The Disappearance of Lee Ellen Stace.

1. The Facts.

  1. I grew up about 5 km outside of the small town of Maclean, on the road to Brooms Head in northern New South Wales. It was a very small community and we spent a lot of weekends going to and every Christmas camping at Brooms Head. So did a fair proportion of the population of Maclean, who relocated to the Brooms Head Caravan Park for up to 6 six weeks every Christmas Holidays. It felt like a very safe and innocent time.

  2. That all changed irrevocably on 2 September 1997, 2 days after the death of Princess Diana, when a 16 year old girl who lived at Brooms Head and went to school in Maclean disappeared.

  3. Disturbingly, Lee Stace, disappeared after finishing her shift at the local ‘Bi Lo‘ supermarket in Yamba, when she was supposed to take the bus. It didn’t make any sense, unless she was perhaps offered a lift by someone which she knew.

  4. Approximately 6 weeks later, the public was informed that fragments of her bones were found by campers scattered near a headland, Redcliff which is only about 4 km from her home and in between Brooms Head and Maclean.

  5. The feeling of safe innocence in the area evaporated.

2. The Weaponised Incompetence & Corruption of the Police Services.

  1. What job can people be paid well to utterly fail at for over 25 years and still keep? That would be the police investigation of the disappearance and murder of Lee Ellen Stace.

  2. Of all of the subjects of which I am speaking, this is the one that may be the one most likely to get me killed, disappeared or tortured to death within the mental health or criminal justice systems.

  3. However, given the levels of weaponised incompetence and corruption within the police services, I am forced to speak the information which I do have publicly, even though I know that I will be heavily attacked, ridiculed and criticised for this. I am willing to bet that the people who will be the most critical have something to gain or hide. Also given that I attacked, ridiculed and criticised anyway, and my life is constantly in danger, I am going to speak this here.

  4. I am well aware that what I have to say may be described as ‘circumstantial’ or irrelevant. Yet, if the police refuse to properly investigate, most information, at this point, may be described this way. However, if the rest of the information in this document were to be taken seriously and also investigated, the police services and general public would be forced to take a closer at my family and their possible role in this matter.

  5. I also refer to the 2009 Sydney Morning Herald article by Sally Rawsthorne where Lee’s father called out the unacceptable fact that they still had no answers about what happened to their daughter and said "We plead with anyone out there with any information to please come forward, no matter if you think it is important or not,"

  6. For Lee, her parents and for all of the other many victims of similar crimes, I need to speak this. For the record, I have given some of this information to the police, I have serious doubts as to whether they have even recorded it, yet alone acted on it.

  7. It is now over 25 years since the disappearance of Lee Stace and if the police services are to be believed, they are no closer to uncovering what happened to her than they were 25 years ago, despite a $1 million reward for information about her death.

  8. In 2009, the NSW Coroner criticised police for the "inordinate time" taken to complete the investigation into Lee Ellen's death. The then-deputy state coroner Carl Milovanovich said "it should never take 12 years to put a coronial brief together, unless there is evidence of ongoing and meaningful investigations".

  9. For the record, I have no interest in the $1 million dollars in reward offered for information about Lee’s death. It would make sense that the government has only offered such a high reward in order to give the appearance of ‘caring’ and of taking some action.

  10. If people were really serious about solving this crime, they would take the ‘investigation’ out of the hands of the people and organisations who have failed at it for 25 years and give to an independent investigator.

3. Facts that Don’t Sit Right.

  1. I did not know Lee. I left school and the area in 1994 and only returned for university holidays. Still what happened to her changed me. The place where I grew up and loved never felt the same to me after her disappearance and death. She grew up in the same place as me. I feel connected.

  2. I know that I am not the only person in the area who believes that there are people in the Maclean, Brooms Head, Yamba area who know exactly what happened to Lee.

  3. Why would Lee get in a car with someone that she didn’t know when she was supposed to be taking the bus?

  4. Still, this didn’t feel like it had anything to do with personally until recently, when I came realise who my family is and the networks which they are connected to.

  5. That is when the following facts and/or ‘coincidences’ started to feel like they warrant further investigation:

    1. I was informed many years (maybe 4 year) after the disappearance of Lee, by a friend of Lee’s that my mother, Mary Saul had been Lee’s teacher. It is very strange to me that Mary Saul had never once mentioned this in all of the years since Lee’s disappearance and during the many times in which her disappearance had come up in conversation. It is very unusual for Mary Saul to downplay or not mention her involvement in or connection to anything. She is a huge gossip.

    2. The following information I would have preferred to address in a more private setting where it could be properly investigated. However, given that victims of human trafficking are effectively gagged and my life is in danger, I do not have the opportunity to do that.

    3. A family member also worked at the same ‘Bi-Lo’ supermarket in Yamba and from my calculations, he would have been working there during the period of time that Lee disappeared. I have no way of knowing if he was actually working there that day I am not accusing my family member of being involved in this crime specifically, just that it is worth looking at given that he is also a part of this corrupt family. It is possible for members of these groups to be used by them without full awareness of or of the implications of what they are doing.

    4. I also have questions about:

      1. Why this family member inexplicitly and for no reason started to treat me very badly many years ago by adopting the negative narratives which my mother started against me which are allowing me to the trafficked, and

      2. Why this family member has been able to afford to live in a house by himself, across the road from the beach in Byron Bay for over 10 years on minimum wage. That is certainly not something that someone being targeted by a corrupt network would be able to pull off. It is more in line with someone receiving ‘favours’ for being part of a corrupt and powerful ‘club’. I again state that it is possible for members of these families to receive benefits without awareness of this. I am sure that this family member would say that he works hard. Many cult members do work hard. This does not mean that they have not been granted the opportunity to do so whilst others are black-listed and trafficked. They will undoubtedly attempt to shame the people who are targeted on this basis.

4. Challenging the Unfounded Theory of the Police Services.

  1. The police services are very keen to push the convenient ‘one-bad actor’ narrative, without any proof.

  2. However this doesn’t take the following factors into account:

    1. Lee disappeared 2 days after the death of Princess Diana. This took a lot of attention away from her disappearance. This is something that an organised and sophisticated network would do.

    2. Economically, it makes no sense. It would make way more sense that Lee was trafficked and that the police are covering it up. There is a lot more money in trafficking a 16 year old girl than murdering them.

    3. If campers, not the police, found her remains six weeks after she went missing, why were they not found earlier?

  3. According to the 2009 Sydney Morning Herald article by Sally Rawsthorne, the former officer in charge, Detective Senior Constable Tony King, told a 2009 coronial inquest it was possible that Anthony Charles Apps and a convicted sex offender had knowledge of circumstances surrounding her disappearance. Apps is imprisoned in Goulburn jail for the murder of an acquaintance of his, Christopher Lamb, whom he shot in the back of the head in 2003.

  4. The name Anthony (Tony) Charles Apps is familiar to me because he is a year old than me and because he was ‘always in trouble’ from a young age.

  5. If Lee was the victim of the vast Human Trafficking networks which operate unchecked in this country, Tony Apps would be the obvious person to blame. Moreover, blaming him allows the public to feel more safe because he is already in goal.

  6. Tony Apps is the perfect ‘scape-goat’ for people who want to shift the focus away from themselves and the complete incompetence of the police services. If there was any actual evidence to implicate Tony Apps, I am sure that the police would have found it. Tony clearly has emotional issues. He has never given the impressions of being a criminal mastermind.

  7. It would make more sense that the person making the completely unfounded allegations against Tony Apps, being Detective Senior Constable Tony King, knows a lot more about the disappearance of Lee than he is informing the public of than it does that Lee would get in a car with Tony Apps.

  8. Human Trafficking networks have a lot more power in this country than people realise and have corrupted every level of government.

  9. If the public knew the full facts surrounding who my parents are, what they are doing and are attempting to do to me, their own daughter, and the vast network of criminals to which they are connected, they would be concerned that two former teachers, one who was an actual teacher of the victim and their son, who worked at the same business as the victim, seemingly were not investigated at all. Moreover, some 25 years later, all the police services have to say is that a local troublemaker ‘may’ have been involved, without any evidence whatsoever.

  10. To reiterate, I know that the abovementioned facts, do not prove anything. They do however warrant further investigation and my words obviously hold enough weight to have a lot of people trying very hard to keep me quiet.

  11. I also need to say here that what would make the most ‘economic’ sense in this situation, would be for Lee’s remains to not actually be her remains. Apparently Human Trafficking victims live for an average of 7 years before they die. Given the levels of corruption within the police services, it would not surprise me at all if her remains were not actually her remains at all. This would then allow the traffickers to profit from trafficking Lee for many more years, without even having to worry about people actually looking for her.

  12. I know this is an awful thought. No doubt it also happens. Because I have been hunted by these people for so long now, I know that they are more than capable of this. The fact that no-one wants to even think about this possibility is to the advantage of Human Traffickers. Just because this theory is unpleasant to think about, does not mean that it is not possible. We are talking about sadistic psychopaths, the fasted growing criminal enterprise in the world, $245 billion USD and 40 million people every year. This is entirely possible.

  13. I am not buying the convenient ‘Tony Apps did it’ story. Do you?
